Local Conservative Councillors selected to be Conservative candidates for Chess Valley
Three local Councillors were last night selected to be the Conservative candidates to represent Chess Valley on the new Buckinghamshire Council.
The elections to the new unitary Council will take place next year. Rather than voting for one candidate, voters will be able to choose three to represent their area. The area known as Chess Valley covers Townsend, St Mary's, Waterside, Chenies, part of Little Chalfont, Latimer and Ley Hill.
Joseph Baum, Gareth Williams and Emily Culverhouse all live within Chess Valley and care about the local area.
Joseph Baum represents Townsend on Chesham Town Council and is the Deputy Chairman (Political) of Chesham and Amersham Conservative Association. Commenting on the announcement, Cllr Baum said:
“I am absolutely delighted to have been selected as a candidate for the area where I live and that I care deeply about. At such a challenging time for Chess Valley we need people who care about our community and are determined to make a difference. Over the next few months I look forward to getting out there, talking to as many people as possible and making my case to the people of Chess Valley.
Gareth Williams lives in Ley Hill and is currently a Bucks County Councillor for Amersham and Chesham Bois. He is the Cabinet Member for Community Engagement and Public Health and also a member of the Shadow Unitary Executive. Cllr Williams said: “It’s a real honour to be selected as a candidate for where I live, the community I love and I’ll do my very best to reach out to as many local residents as possible and be an effective voice for them.”
Emily Culverhouse is the current Councillor for Hilltop and Townsend on Chiltern District Council and for Townsend at Chesham Town Council. Emily is also the Deputy Chairman (Membership and Fundraising) of Chesham and Amersham Conservative Association. Cllr Culverhouse said: “I’m looking forward to getting out and meeting even more of the community. Community is at the heart of this ward and doing what I can for my local area is why I became a Councillor. I’m delighted to have been selected and I’m looking forward to working with Gareth and Joseph to improve our home town.”
The elections will take place next May. To get the latest news from the candidates, please like and follow their Facebook page:
